Evangelization: Leading with Beauty

An OSM Studio Story written by Diana Jorda

Posters lined the wall with colorful post-its that contained everything from witty quips, insightful wisdom, and sincere hopes for the future.

Laughs were exchanged over beers, yet uniquely contrasted with strategic plans to invoke necessary action.  People chatted as Bradley Santos and crew, from OSM, captured photo snapshots of candid conversations.

This was the environment of our very first Vision Day entitled “Evangelization: Leading with Beauty” held on a Saturday evening, February 10th. Some of the provoking questions that lines the walls were everything from, “What would you be patron saint of?” to “Where do you see the Catholic Church in our region in 10 to 15 years?” These prompts were to gauge the diverse level of experiences in the room to begin a significant dialogue which has been long overdue.

we gathered people hungry for Beauty in light of the Gospel Truth longing to share it where God calls us.

After taking that all in, we joined together in praise and worship led by local Catholic musician, Pat D’angelo from Heights of Zion. We sang songs like Audrey Aussad’s “Restless” that harmonized our voices to our collective desire to please God. It seemed like our union of heart-filled intentions and hopes rose up like incense in the form of singing to commission our unified efforts going forward.

Concluding the evening, we highlighted every person in the room in their experience with Beauty and the Church. Numbers were exchanged and action items given to invite others to the next stages of visioning for a Beauty-filled movement that lends to Evangelization and encounter with Christ.

This movement involves more than just artists, but thinkers, organizers, promoters, clergy, parish leaders, and all who desire to advance the Kingdom of God through our God-given gifts to share the message of love to all persons.
